Barry Dwaine
Bolin
May 20, 1957 — Oct 14, 2026
Barry Dwaine Bolin, 69, of Bluff, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2026. He was raised in North, South Carolina by one of the best grandmas ever. He was preceded in death by his grandma, Cornelia Sturkie; his mother Evelyn (Burr) Giffen; his dad Benson (Inez) Bolin; and a sister, Faye Gibbons.
Barry is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dee; his two daughters, Jennifer (James) Hodge and Stephanie (Nathan) Wilde; his four grandchildren, Christian Gunter, Colby Gunter, Lela Gunter and Eli Hodge; his siblings, Laurie (Brett) Gerkin, Mark (Kim) Bolin, Michael (Keta) Bolin, and Kenny Bolin; as well as all of his wonderful nieces and nephews, Bryan (Maddison) Gerkin, Mallory Gerkin and Payson Gerkin. Barry LOVED his cousins!
Barry lived life to the fullest. He was an avid Gamecock fan, a passion he shared with his sister and grandsons. Barry loved tournament softball for decades, #11 all the way! He was a jack of all trades, always, and once he learned google there was no stopping him!
Barry loved music, from the 1970's era, especially CCR. Over the past years, Cold Play "Viva la Vida", was a favorite. It was fun watching him get into that song. Barry and Dee loved to attend concerts and to go dancing! One of his goals/dreams was to take Colby to see Tony Bennett. He even went to hear Black Label Society (heavy metal) with Christian last month and enjoyed it!
Barry truly loved his family. He was really dedicated to his children and grandchildren. He attended more PTO, Dance classes/recitals, birthday and skating parties, than most men. He had a great sense of humor and he loved HIS jokes! Lela and Papa had a special bond. They spent a lot of time after school going to the library, park and ice cream parlor. People at Brush Creek Elementary knew Lela's Papa. He absolutely adored our superhero Eli, they shared such love in the last three years, especially the love of chocolate ice cream.
Barry and our grandma Polly shared great times together and because of the time they spent together he was the best cornbread, hoe cake and salmon patty cook in Madison County. He loved working at Ingles and the people he met there. Barry also loved fishing ANYWHERE: on the surf, boat, docks, he just loved to fish! Once when he caught his first ocean striper, he woke Dee up with the HUGE FISH DRIPPING OVER HER HEAD!
Barry was born in the gospel, raised by a grandma who he adored. Her and her sisters started a church in their home. He loves and respects the Lord, Jesus Christ and the gospel. He did not take them lightly. Barry and Dee worked as a team working at the churches they attended!
One of the greatest compliments that Barry always received was he was a good man! He was a Good Man!
